The Garden Party at Hollister House Garden

Saturday, September 7th from 4:00pm-7:00pm

Join Hollister House Garden for a special Garden Party on Saturday, September 7th for an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, music by the Gene Bozzi Quartet, an extraordinary silent auction and spectacular plants from Broken Arrow Nursery and Cricket Hill Garden. Gardeners and garden lovers will find one-of-a-kind experiences, garden visits, special plants and other treasures under the tent. A silent auction that is not to be missed! All proceeds from this evening provide critical funding for educational programming and community engagement at Hollister House Garden.

Hollister House Garden is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the house and garden at this beautiful property. In addition to visiting hours at the garden, Hollister House Garden hosts regular programming for the public including art workshops, garden lectures, and more.

FUNraiser for Judy Black Park

Saturday, September 14th at 5:00pm

The Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens invites the community for an evening of celebration, music and friends at their Annual FUNraiser! The event will feature a concert on the grounds of the Bryan Memorial Town Hall with live music by Anchor Management, followed by a reception with refreshments and hors d’oeuvres.

About Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens:
Judy Black Park is a gathering place and vibrant hub for the Washington community. Formerly an abandoned gas station, the property was transformed into a park by a small group of local residents who wanted to beautify this central space and create “a town square” for the community to enjoy together. Today, its mission is to be a gathering place in Washington that invites friends and neighbors to relax, learn, play, and share all that our community offers.

From the Earth and the Sea: Annual Clambake

Saturday, September 14th at 6:00pm

Join the Institute for American Indian Studies to savor local Indigenous foods of lobster, clams, corn, and potatoes as we come together to celebrate Indigenous peoples of Connecticut. This year, they will honor Indigenous artists with the 2023 Emerging Artist Award recipient Claudine Purdue and Fashion Designer and Artist Brandi Sawyer Emmans. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on artist works, among other items, in our silent auction. All proceeds from this fundraiser help IAIS bring Indigenous history, ideas, and knowledge to the public.

About the Institute for American Indian Studies:
The Institute for American Indian Studies (IAIS) preserves and educates through discovery and creativity the diverse traditions, vitality and knowledge of Native American cultures. IAIS was incorporated in 1975 as an outgrowth of local efforts to recover New England’s then-largely-unknown indigenous history. Today, IAIS continues to be a museum and research center dedicated to providing unique, informative and engaging experiences for our members and visitors alike.

Pilobolus’ Family Day

Saturday, September 21st from 1:00pm – 3:00pm

The whole family is invited to get to know Pilobolus during this fun-filled day featuring an interactive educational performance by Pilobolus dancers, lawn games, and delicious treats! This event is also a modest fundraiser where every $5,000 raised enables Pilobolus to perform their kid’s show at a local Connecticut school. If you would like to support them in this endeavor please consider adding a donation of any size to your ticket purchase.

The mission of Pilobolus is to create, perform, and preserve dances applying the collaborative creative methods of Pilobolus, expand and diversify audiences

The evening includes an opportunity to channel the elegance of a 1920’s costume, enjoy an open bar and hors d’oeuvres, live music and dancing, a photo booth, fortune telling, a silent auction, and more!

The Gunn Memorial Library is dedicated to providing free public library services to the town of Washington and the surrounding communities and to promoting literacy, education and the preservation of the Town’s history and culture. Contributions enable the library to provide cultural and current event programming, historical exhibits, and educational outreach to the residents of Washington and surrounding communities.

3 Peaks in 3 Weeks Challenge

September 29th through October 20, 2024

An annual event each October, this challenge invites participants to hike all three Steep Rock peaks in three weeks and register to win prizes for participating. All ages and fitness levels are encouraged to join in this friendly adventure. Registration coming in September!

Steep Rock Association is a nationally accredited land trust whose mission is to conserve ecologically and historically significant landscapes and riparian corridors in and around Washington, CT and to enhance the community’s connection to nature through outreach, education, and passive recreation.
