Event Details

The Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens and KMR Arts proudly announce an Artist Conversation with Catherine Erb on Saturday, September 21 at 4 pm.

Catherine Erb, based in Memphis, Tennessee will be talking about her path, process, and subject in the context of her concurrent exhibits at the park and KMR Arts. Participating in the event will be Mary Beth Lawlor, editor of Litchfield Magazine, as moderator, and Kathy McCarver, owner of KMR Arts. Following the artist conversation, there will be a Finissage reception with refreshments served.

Catherine Erb is interested in exploring recognition beyond vision. How far can you deconstruct an image before it loses its essence? In the series of works at The Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens and KMR Arts, Erb is literally blurring the lines between representation and abstraction in order to get to a point where, as Erb says, “All that’s left is a deeper recognition with knowing.” The Hindu word Darshan, or, opportunity to glimpse a deity or sacred object is woven into the works in Look Up.

Please join us for this rare opportunity.

Kathy McCarver, owner of KMR Arts says, “What I find fascinating about Catherine Erb’s work is its balance between realism and abstraction. Her work is inspiring, timeless, and very, very, very beautiful.”
