When we get to know something, we may learn to love it. When we love something, we strive to care for and protect it. Join us at Back 40 Farm and get to know and love the land, the plants, and the animals that share our earthly home with us.
In the farm fields and greenhouse, come and learn about how food and farming affect our lives and the world around us. Farmer Alexis will lead you on an adventurous tasting tour of the farm, where you will get your hands dirty planting and harvesting organic vegetables. She will share some of the ways in which she farms to create sustainable, healthy communities. Have fun exploring the fields, tasting the delicious fruits of the earth, and become an informed food citizen!
We’ll then take an animal journey! Do you have a dog or a cat? Maybe a chicken or a horse? Do you find yourself talking to your beloved animal? Did you know you can also talk to the animals you see outside, like deer and hawk? Through observation, storytelling, and listening, Animal Whisperer Pauline will lead an exploration on how our actions can help create a healthy world for all living creatures.
