First Friday in Washington Depot – Day of the Dead 2017

Join us for First Friday in Washington Depot
Our monthly First Friday event continues! The Day of the Dead holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. Valley Spirit will have a prayer shrine and burning ceremony as part of the festivities. Mexican music, food and drink throughout the village shops.
Day of the Dead decorations and masks encouraged.

About Day of the Dead
The Aztecs developed the ritual some 3,000 years ago because they believed one should not grieve the loss of a beloved ancestor who passed. Instead, the Aztecs celebrated their lives and welcomed the return of their spirits to the land of the living once a year. Altars are used to welcome the ancestors’ spirits.
