One session: Sunday, May 5 from 10am to 5pm (may be split into two sessions if participants prefer)
Crochet? Knit? Both? In this workshop, local needle arts designer and guru Margaret Huber will teach you the three methods she uses to create free-form fabrics. Your goal will be to create a small bag. While most students will not complete the project in one day, you will come away with all the knowledge you need to finish it on your own.
Fluency in knitting and crochet is not required, but you will have even more fun in this workshop if you can do both! (How badly do you want to take a class from a woman who is a self-professed “bistitchual” and in the Crochet Hall of Fame? We are obsessed.)
- Skill Level: Intermediate/Advanced
- Homework: Small pieces in both knit and crochet, as outlined in handout…mix them up if you like, or you can make all knitted or all crochet. Details provided upon registration.
- Instructor: Margaret Hubert
- Notes:
- Class size limited to 8.
- This will be a full-day workshop, with a break for lunch. Or, if participants prefer, we can split this up into two sessions…May 5 and May 19.
Cost: $90.00
Margaret Hubert started in the needle arts business in 1963, as co-owner of a small yarn shop. When the shop closed 12 years later, she became the needlework instructor at Bloomingdale’s in White Plains, New York. Since that time, she has written 31 books, including her latest which was released last summer: One-Piece Knits (June 2018).
Other recent publications include:
The Granny Square Book, Second Edition (Inside Out) (May 2017)
The Complete Photo Guide to Crochet, 2nd Edition (July 2014)
The Complete Photo Guide to Knitting, 2nd Edition (December 2014)
Runway Crochet (June 2013)
Lacework for Adventurous Crocheters (January 2013)
The Granny Square Book (November 2011)
Learn to Free-Form Crochet (December 2010)
Her designs have been featured in myriad knit and crochet publications, including Interweave Knits, Crochet, Crochet!, Creative Knitting, Belle Armoire, Simply Crochet, as well as many hardcover books. Margaret also has two tutorial DVDs out, on Free-Form Knitting and Free-Form Crochet.
While Margaret teaches knitting and crocheting workshops all over the country, she continues to teach in her local yarn shop (LYS) in Pawling, New York, where she has taught for the past 18 years. She loves all aspects of both knitting and crocheting, but combining knitting and crochet in free-form designs is her passion.
And yes, Margaret has been inducted into The Jean Leinhauser CGOA Crochet Hall of Fame.
Another new book is in the works, though the contents and title are still under wraps. Watch this space!
