Event Details
Art quilts designed and sewn by Danbury quilt artist, Norma Schlager will be on display at the Gunn Memorial Library in Washington from November 24 through January 5, 2019. There will also be an opening reception on Sunday, November 25 from 1pm to 3pm.
“I’ve always had a needle in my hand. From embroidering as a little girl, to making most of my own clothes as a teen and beyond,” says Schlager. “But when I discovered art quilts, all else has fallen to the wayside!”
She draws her inspiration from many places including nature, travel, architecture or just the pure love of color. Her quilts are usually distinguished by their use of saturated hues and vivid contrast. Most of her work features her own hand-dyed fabrics, surface design and extensive free-motion machine quilting.
Schlager’s award-winning work has been exhibited in numerous shows and exhibits, nationally and internationally, and has been published in many books and magazines.
