We are thrilled to welcome Henry Morales and his exhibit, “9 to 5 || 5 to 9,” on view beginning Friday, November 10. This show is on view through Sunday, December 3.
Morales is a multidisciplinary artist and curator currently based in the Philadelphia area. His experience as a first-generation Guatemalan American inspires him to explore themes of labor, immigration, identity, and hybridity through works that mix non-traditional and familiar materials.
A reception and artist talk will be held at the park on Saturday, November 25 from 4 to 6 pm.
“Through my works, I examine the labor of my family and its relation to society’s perception of and interactions with them,” Morales explains. “I aim to investigate the impact of migrating and assimilating to a new place while still holding ties to another land by depicting and celebrating the lived experiences of my family and the strong community of hardworking, persistent, and caring individuals that I interact with.”
