The 26th Annual Holiday in the Depot will be held Friday, Dec. 8th from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the town center.
Festivities will kick off with the lighting of the Town Christmas Tree by a special guest at Bryan Memorial Town Hall.
Students from Washington Montessori School will sing carols as the tree is lit.
Caroling throughout the Depot will be heard by the troubadours from The Gunnery School.
Santa will arrive by horse drawn hay wagon shortly after the tree lighting and will be available to listen to children’s wishes and have his photograph taken with them until 8:30p.m inside the Town Hall. Hay rides will be given by Utopia Percherons throughout the Depot.
Other offerings will include the sale of the collectible 2017 Christmas ornament by the Washington Volunteer Fire Department’s Auxiliary who will also have a special mail box for children’s letters to Santa.
Children can create a Christmas craft with the aid of Linda Morse and Gail Scribner from the Gunn Memorial Junior Library. There will be goodies from the Animal Welfare Society for pets and people, and at the American Legion Hall, the Washington PTO will have hot dogs and chili for sale and the Senior Center will have gift items for sale.
The “Town Hall Gang” will collect goodies, toiletries, letters, and children’s drawings for boxes to send to the US service men and women serving our country abroad.
The Washington Business Association is sponsoring a raffle to win an iPad mini or a Holiday Basket filled with gift certificates and other items donated by their members. As you stroll the Depot, be sure to pick up your free entry form in each of the open businesses and then drop them all off at Washington Supply for the drawing at 8:30p.m.
There will also be a Wreath Display at participating businesses in the Depot. Stop by each business to view the unique wreath they’ve created which best showcases their business!
Join The Hickory Stick Bookshop for refreshments and special surprises and the Washington Food Market for hot chocolate and desserts. Shop the Washington Supply Outdoor Living Center for seasonal decorations and gifts at a discounted price. Make sure to see the beautiful display of gifts at the Washington Art Association…and much more!!!
This is just a sampling of all that will be happening so come visit with friends, eat, shop, explore and think local first. You won’t want to miss it!
