“Over my lifetime, from a youngster drawing with crayons to my current pictures at age eighty, I’ve attempted to clarify through varying visual techniques, events and circumstances that affect my going through life. The satisfaction I get from producing work is directly connected to my exploring a language to express it. Through the years I’ve told stories honing a variety of techniques that have all contributed to my ability to present my thoughts and feelings with personal resolution. Since 2017 I have been telling stories on wooden panels by cutting masques and creating images by spraying paint through them and then completing the imagery with liquid watercolor. My sense of space is influenced by balance, not order, including image and color. I paint on a horizontal surface and do so from all sides, hence, many of my paintings can be viewed as such.” – Larry Nathanson
