A Note from Kathy of KMR Arts:
I am thrilled to announce the next exhibition at KMR Arts, Barbara Vaughn: Apart Together. As we move through this time together, I am optimistic about our future. I yearn to see my treasured friends, clients, and artists. As we all know, we must continue our vigilance and take care of each other.
There will be an outdoor reception with the artist on Saturday, June 6, from 4-7pm. The gallery will be open the entire day from 11am on as well. Of course, this opening will unfold differently in our new normal. In accordance with social distancing regulations, three visitors will be permitted in the gallery at the same time. It is not essential to arrange an appointment to visit the gallery, but it is absolutely possible. Feel free to connect with me via email ([email protected]) with any question you may have before visiting the gallery. In addition, I’m expanding my gallery hours to be more flexible so that the number of visitors can be spaced appropriately. I will have an outdoor covered space in front of the gallery with refreshments so that we can celebrate together while socially distancing.
Vaughn describes her series Apart Together:
” “Apart Together” is a both a description of the physical creation of this new series, as well as a reference to the human condition in our post-Covid world. Confined to working from home, my inspiration was Arthur Ashe’s quote: “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” My innate response was to work with my hands, selectively and meticulously tearing apart existing photographic prints, then reassembling them in dream-like unfamiliar new combinations. The juxtaposed photographs offer a reimagined beauty alluding to both our current estrangement and the hope for a new world that lies ahead.”
Barbara Vaughn graduated from Princeton University and attended the International Center of Photography in NYC, in addition to other photography programs. She is represented by several galleries in the US and her artwork is in numerous noteworthy private collections. This is the third solo show of Barbara Vaughn’s work at KMR Arts.
Complimentary hand sanitizer will be available upon arrival, and we ask that you please arrive with your own masks and do what you can to protect yourself and others.
I am grateful for my amazing gallery artists who are remaining hopeful and creative. I am planning and scheduling the exhibition program for the coming months. Stay tuned for more exciting news.
