THE PERFORMANCES & THE HALL– July 26, 27, 28
All MAINSTAGE performances will be held in EPAC at The Gunnery. Artists include the iconic Mike Stern, Wycliffe Gordon, Randy Brecker, Avery Sharpe, Alvin Atkinson and others , and the younger set with mad talent–the vocal group Duchess, the Chad LB Quartet, vocalist Alexis Cole, pianist Carmen Staaf and many, many more. For complete listing and times, visit www.litchfieldjazzfest.com.
EPAC is an intimate hall with just 220 seats so everyone is close enough to enjoy jazz as it’s meant to be heard. And speaking of hearing, you can count on excellent sound thanks to one of the most respected leaders in the field, long-time supporter, Telefunken Elektroakustik.
We encourage you to order your tickets early. This year you can order tickets in pairs of shows you want to hear, or all of them if you like.
THE OUTERFEST – July 27, 11 AM – 5 PM FREE!
There will be no missing out on any of the things you’ve always loved about the Fest in addition to the wonderful music. Art, crafts, good food, Jazz Camp student concerts, Artist Talks, and family fun are all on. Thanks to a grant from the Connecticut Community Foundation, we are able to offer these experiences at no charge . All OuterFest activities are held on Washington Green, across the street (RT 47) from EPAC’s Mainstage.
FOOD, ART AND CRAFTS AT THE OUTERFEST
As always, food vendors will serve up delicious treats. This year we have wood fired pizza baked on the spot. Our loyal, renowned artists will exhibit : Danielle Mailer, Chris Osborne and Steve Sokolin will be on deck. Jewelry is always a favorite of festival attendees, and Carnelian Knoll will be with us as they have been each year since the beginning. Woodbury Music will offer records, instruments and more for the music lover. Visit us on line for a complete listing of Outer Fest exhibitors.
LITCHFIELD JAZZ CAMP STUDENT STAGE – 11 AM—5 PM
Hearing our Jazz Campers perform is a highlight of every Litchfield Jazz Festival. This year, the 23rd for the Student Stage, you can hear the surprisingly professional sounds of our campers in the historic, acoustically terrific First Church On-the-Green. Artist talks hosted by DownBeat and other activities will be at this location as well. A generous break between the Fest’s afternoon and evening shows ensures everyone can hear student sets and enjoy the OUTERFEST.
FRIDAY NIGHT GALA
This year the opening night gala will be held at The Judy Black Memorial Park & Gardens on Friday July 26, in Washington Depot (at the foot of the RT 47 hill). Enjoy fine French reserve wines courtesy of VanDoren Vineyards and Black Hog microbrews, appetizers, an artshow by local mixed-media artist Peter Wooster, and live jazz music by top Litchfield Jazz Camp students.
THE LADIES WHO SWING JAZZ BRUNCH
Who doesn’t like breakfast? No one –especially when it’s the Litchfield Jazz Fest Ladies Who Swing Jazz Brunch! Sunday, July 28 The Don Braden Band will back the legendary Antoinette Montague saluting stars of jazz and blues across the years—women like Shirley Horn, Bessie Smith, Abby Lincoln, Peggy Lee, and other greats. A delicious brunch and Litchfield Signature Sangria will be served while you enjoy the show. The location is the lovely Bourne Courtyard at the Gunnery (rain location, the Virginia Hamilton Solley Dining Hall).
The Gunnery has an extraordinarily beautiful campus and a stellar staff. BUT it is very short on parking. To address this issue, we have reserved parking at the Washington Primary School in Washington Depot. Shuttles will take guests to and from the performances and special events locations. Door to door service! If you need handicap access, we recommend contacting our main office at 860-361-6285 prior to 7/25 so that we can make arrangements for you in advance of your arrival.
For Tickets to any of the ticketed events and shows visit LJF2019.eventbrite.com. Come and enjoy it all.
