Meet Your Local Farmers on Film + In Person

Your entire family is welcome Sunday April 6, 2-4 pm at The Judy Black Memorial Park & Gardens / Seasonal Farmers Market to see six compelling short films showcasing Litchfield County farms and the remarkable (often multi-generational) families behind them.

This special event, organized by The Farmer’s Table as part of “Washington’s Restaurant Week: Savoring Great Food + Great Art”, is a first-ever showing of all the films together, including a world premiere of our latest one! Each created by an area filmmaker. Expect to see familiar faces of farmers who have participated for years in the Washington Depot Farmers Market at Judy Black and other area markets. Stay for the post-screening panel with the farmers who appear in the films as they share where their farms are headed today and stay afterwards to enjoy refreshments and meet them.

The Farmer’s Table produces a film almost every year that tells the story of a farming family like the Angevine family that has stewarded their farm for 156 years and Washington’s own Averill family, the 10th generation to work their farm and orchard since 1756. Other beloved Litchfield County farms featured will include Bethlehem’s March Farm, Morris’ South Farms, Bridgewater’s Sunny Meadow Farm and Warren’s Hopkins Vineyard.

Since the Farmer’s Table was founded in 2011, it has supported local farmers by providing resources that promote sustainability and community engagement. It believes in strengthening the ties between the farmers and our communities who benefit from their fresh, healthy food, enhancing the visibility of our local farms, and celebrating the diversity of agricultural practices.

The event is free thanks to the generous support and participation of Judy Black Memorial Park and Garden, The Washington Arts Council (WAC) , The Washington Business Association(WBA) and The Pantry.
