Puppet Show: “Fairy Tale Olympics”

The Washington Montessori School in New Preston will present a marionette puppet show called “Fairy Tale Olympics” on Saturday, February 10 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The morning will include a post-performance Q&A and meet-and-greet with the puppeteer, followed by an invitation for families to gather in our gymnasium for some unstructured playtime.

An original story written and performed by experienced actor and puppeteer, Charlotte Dore of Rosalita’s Puppets, “Fairy Tale Olympics” recounts Queen Emerald’s decision to hold an Olympics for the fairytale creatures of her kingdom — but what happens when one of the contestants cheats? This interactive and engaging puppet show is great for discussing themes of sportsmanship and self-esteem.

Ms. Dore founded Rosalita’s Puppets in 1993 while performing at King Richard’s Faire. Since then, Rosalita’s Puppets have enchanted audiences at venues and festivals all over New England, including Somerville Art Beat, the Boston MDC, Boston ICA, Bridgewater 4th of July festival, Children’s First in NYC and Boston, Connecticut Renaissance Faire, Springfield Museum, and the Syracuse Puppet and Mask Theatre. Ms. Dore was also a puppeteer on the movie “Zookeeper” with Kevin James, assisting Oscar-winning special effects/animator Tom Woodruff and his team in bringing life to an animatronic gorilla. Rosalita’s Puppets have also been featured in the Boston Globe.

Tickets can be purchased ahead of time or at the door for $10 each.
