In-Person Event
The IAIS Education Department frequently offers family-friendly educational workshops on Sunday afternoons. This year, many of our Sunday Fun Day workshops will focus on the teachings of trees and the power of plants, which indigenous communities have been carefully stewarding for thousands of years. For this month’s workshop, we have the perfect pitch: pines! In indigenous communities, pines have had a plethora of uses: needles woven into intricate baskets, cones to help with fire starting, bark and twigs for teas, and pitch for glue and chewing gum. Join an IAIS Museum Educator for a program in which participants will learn all about the adaptations of the pine tree as they make their very own pine project. Express your creativity while learning about the world around you and connecting with a culture that has thousands of years of history in this area.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Please visit our website to register online. Questions? Email [email protected] or call (860) 868-0518. Price of participation including materials: $20 for Non-Members, $10 for IAIS Members.
