1. Fall Activities at Averill Farm

Averill Farm is one of the most popular family destinations to visit in Washington during the fall season. While you’re there, you can enjoy a traditional apple and pumpkin picking experience, get a taste of their freshly baked apple cider donuts, and browse through local honey, jams, freshly baked goods, and more delicious bounty at their farm stand! Averill Farm is open daily from 9:30am-5:30pm.

2. Hiking trails with a view

With an abundance of hiking trails and biking routes, you can enjoy some of the best views in the Litchfield Hills. Venture out on one of Steep Rock Association’s trails, where you’ll find the iconic Henry Thoreau Bridge or panoramic views of Litchfield County from Waramaug’s Rock. For a pleasant stroll, the loop around Lake Waramaug also offers magnificent views during this time of year.

3. Fresh Goods at the Farmer’s Market

The Washington Farmer’s Market at Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens is the perfect opportunity to pick up fresh locally grown produce and many gourmet goods, including artisan cheeses, pasture-raised meats, freshly baked breads, and more. The Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday from 9:30am to 12:30pm through November 23, 2024.

4. Browse the Bookshop

There are always so many exciting events happening in Washington! Visit the Washington Art Association to view “The Divinest Sense” Exhibition, tune in for the “Convergence” Exhibit presented by KMR Arts and Terri Tibbatts Exhibit at Judy Black Park, or take a look at the creative “Cover Stories & Citiscapes” Exhibit at Gunn Memorial Library’s Stairwell Gallery.

8. Afternoon of live music & wine

Enjoy a crisp fall afternoon with gorgeous views of the resplendent foliage over Lake Waramaug at Hopkins Vineyard where you can enjoy wine flights or wines by the bottle along with amazing charcuterie options and cheese platters. You can even take part in Wigwam Escape for a fun escape room experience.
