Native Americans across the Americas have interacted with, have influenced, and have been influenced by other cultures. In recognition of the history of the interaction between Native American and African Americans in the Northeast, we welcome Dr. Ken Feder, Professor of Anthropology at CCSU, who will discuss his work uncovering the archeology and history surrounding the Lighthouse Village in Barkhamsted. In his book, A Village of Outcasts, Dr. Feder tells the fascinating story of Native Americans, Freed African American salves and assorted European outcasts who came together and established a settlement that thrived from 1740 to 1860. Join Dr. Feder for a lively presentation and discussion, sure to shed some light on this often forgotten bit of Connecticut history.
