Since the early 1990s, Amy Ziffer has been experimenting to find the best shade-adapted plants for the Northeast. Shade Revealed, a talk abundantly illustrated with beautiful photography, focuses on what makes some shade plants better performers than others. She also presents a clear approach to designing your shade garden for the best chances of long-term success. This program was the basis for Amy’s book, The Shady Lady’s Guide to Northeast Shade Gardening, originally published in 2014 and about to be reissued in an expanded second edition.
Amy Ziffer has 20 years of experience helping clients create beautiful gardens on their residential properties. She is a former staff editor at Fine Gardening magazine and has been a Master Gardener for nearly 30 years. Her freelance work as a garden writer and photographer has appeared in many publications. Her 2014 book, The Shady Lady’s Guide to Northeast Shade Gardening, will be reissued in a second edition by Cornell University Press in May 2022. She frequently lectures and teaches about gardening across the Northeast.
