Published in October 2023, Our Hidden Landscapes, edited by Dr. Lucianne Lavin and Elaine Thomas (Mohegan), provides an important new lens for interpreting stone structures that had previously been attributed to settler colonialism. With contributions from a plethora of Native American culture bearers, anthropologists, and archaeologists, this volume introduces readers to eastern North America’s Indigenous ceremonial stone landscapes – sacred sites whose principal identifying characteristics are built stone structures that cluster within specific physical landscapes. Join co-editor Lucianne Lavin, Ph.D and Research Director Emerita at the Institute for American Indian Studies, for a presentation and book talk on these significant yet often unrecognized sites.
