Throughout the earliest recordings of human existence from the cave to current, direct drawing from the human figure has been the most expressive of forms for revealing the energy and vibration of what it means to be alive in one’s time. This exhibition highlights and celebrates the commitment of local artists to figure and portrait drawing as a basis of concentration. This focus informs all their other artistic work. Knowing the structure and form of a three dimensional living, breathing, continually adjusting human subject allows the artist to develop the authority and freedom to compose images that have space and volume and especially to capture the energy of life.
Within this discipline, the featured artists –Rita Frenkel and Nancy Lasar, demonstrate a wide range of diversity in approach and style.
This exhibit will be on view from February 15 – March 29 and opens with a reception on Saturday, February 15 from 4-6pm. Enjoy light fare paired with New Preston’s Spring Hill wine, live jazz and dynamic works of art by two extraordinary Washington CT artists.
