Baskets by Kari Lonning and Paintings by Timothy McDowell.

Kari Lonning has been weaving colorful, artist-dyed rattan baskets since 1973. Her work is represented widely in collections across the United States, including the Smithsonian Institution and the Yale University Art Gallery. Her practice incorporates multiple weaving techniques, including some of her own invention, to achieve diverse textures and contrasting colors.

Timothy McDowell is a painter and professor of printmaking and drawing at Connecticut College in New London, Ct. His most recent work explores dreamscapes in oils and mixed media. Historically, Timothy has embraced working in various materials, including encaustic, distemper, cyanotype, and intaglio etchings. His work is included in the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection and is represented by the Marcia Wood Gallery in Atlanta, Ga.

Both highly respected masters in their fields, Kari Lonning and Timothy Mcdowell’s work speak to quality in craftsmanship and embracing the history and tradition of process in art-making.
