Memorial Day Parade and Commemorations

Join us for Memorial Day on Monday, May 29th, 2023 in honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Here is the schedule for Washington’s traditional Memorial Day events. Thank you to the GAGE-ZUMPF POST #87.

TOWN OF WASHINGTON MEMORIAL DAY PARADE SCHEDULE

Time:               Location:

12:00 p.m.        Washington Green Cemetery:  Prayer, Roll Call, Color Guard and Firing Squad only.

1:15 p.m.          Parade forms at New Preston Congregational Church.

1:30 p.m.          Parade steps off through Village to Baldwin Hill Cemetery.

2:15 p.m.          Parade forms at Washington Primary School.

2:30 p.m.          Parade steps off.  Parade stops at Depot Bridge for service for Navy deceased.  Parade proceeds to Bryan Memorial Town Hall for the Memorial Day Service and presentation of the Major Stephen Reich Award for Exceptional Citizenship.

Chicken in the Box Dinner for $15.00 will be offered by American Legion Gage Zumpf Post #87, 6 Bryan Plaza, Washington Depot, CT at 12:00p.m.

In case of rain:  Chicken in the Box will be offered but there will be no parade.  Services will be held at the cemeteries and the Memorial Stones in the Depot.
