Popular musicologist Professor Gil Harel PhD presents and engaging program of Renaissance music in conjunction with the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo daVinci. This lecture, Motets, Madrigals and Masses: Sounds and Culture in Renaissance Europe, will include musical enhancements.

Modern musicologists often point to the mid-15th century as a turning point in the history of European art music. During this program Gil will discuss three genres of Renaissance music: first the motets and masses which represent the spiritual nature of this period as well as the madrigals which reflect the poetic and secular in life.
