New Year’s Tea Party
Ring in the New Year with an old-fashioned tea hosted by the Gunn Historical Museum and Gunn Memorial Library. A cookie contest will be the highlight of this year’s tea party. Cookies will be the culinary creations submitted by local bakers. Guests are asked to bring their favorite teacup, we’ll provide tea sandwiches.
New Year’s Cookie Contest
Cookie Contest will be hosted during the Museum’s Annual New Year’s Tea Party. This will take place on Saturday, January 6, 2018, 11 am – 1 pm in the library’s Wykeham Room. A snow date is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9, 2018, 4 – 6 pm.
Do you have a special cookie recipe that you think is a real winner? Our contest will give home cooks an opportunity to have their culinary creations judged by three professionals. The judges are Marty Rook, trained pastry chef, and owner of New Preston Kitchen Goods, plus acclaimed cookbook authors, Ann Hodgman and Susan Purdy.
Those interested in participating should pre-register by calling the library or signing up at the circulation desk. Entrants should submit 3 dozen cookies arranged on a disposable plate to the library at least ½ hour before the event. Plates are to be submitted with an entry form which can be picked up at the library. Cookies should be homemade and baked by the contestant. This fun event is open to bakers of all ages.
Cookies will be judged in six categories: Most Creative, Best Tasting, Most Festive, Most Original, Baked by Children Under 16, and Best Overall.
