We are pleased to welcome Nicole Alger and her art exhibit, titled “Animal, Vegetable, Mineral”. Alger’s display will feature inspiring realist paintings on canvas, wood and other materials. The exhibit will be on view Friday, July 8 through Monday, August 8. An opening reception will be held on Friday, July 8 from 5 to 7 pm.
For Alger, painting is a way for her to connect with her ancestors and her family’s past. “Cultivating a relationship with our ancestors is an ancient practice that was woven into daily life long before my forebears arrived on these shores,” she said. “Sustenance meant more than animal, vegetable and mineral. A connection to the past was as invaluable as food. The rituals that mark the passage of human life were the very threads of our cultural fabric.”
