The Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens invites the community to its fourth annual plant sale and Gardenpalooza on Saturday, May 18th from 10 am to 1 pm! The sale will feature a variety of perennials, annuals, flowers, vegetable and herb plants available from Meadowbrook Gardens. Stock up on plants to start (or add to!) your own home garden.
Several community organizations will be on site sharing information about various projects and initiatives they are involved in.
The Washington Garden Club will present a family program, To Bee or Not to Bee. Dr. Dahlia Garza, a member of the board of the Backyard Beekeepers Association, will share her knowledge of bee keeping and conservation using an active observation hive enclosed in plexiglass where you can see live bees working on honeycomb. She will enlighten us about the importance of bees in our ecosystem and food production. Tracy Zarillo, from the CAES Department of Entomology, will speak on bee pollination and diversity. In addition to showing encased specimens of bees she will provide pages with different types of bees for children to color and take home. A honey tasting is also on the agenda provided by the Backyard Beekeepers Association. Come join us for a day of fun and learning!
This event will take place at One Green Hill Road, Washington Depot, CT 06794.
