Our next reading is “Old Time Industries in Washington” written by Edith Heath Rossiter in 1915. Click the link above to join us virtually on Zoom, where museum staff will present Edith’s paper, share photos, artifacts, and stories and have a discussion about Washington’s history.

During the 19th century, Washington was home to many small industries – located on practically every brook and stream – and produced a great variety of household implements. Washington Depot was then known as Factory Hollow due to the large number of factories located there. Come learn about the industrial heritage of our town during this special virtual presentation!

Recordings of previous readings and lectures are accessible here on our website.
