Event Details

Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Jampa Mackenzie Stewart of Valley Spirit and Wellness Center in Washington Depot, CT presents TaiChi & Meditation an Introduction. Join us for a relaxing yet enlivening evening and sample what Tai Chi and meditation have to offer.

The ancient Chinese exercise art of Tai Chi is sometimes called “meditation in movement.” All the movements are done in slow motion, yet it actually speeds up your reflexes, improves balance and reduces falls, lowers high blood pressure, calms the nerves and builds strength. Including the Chinese people, there are literally hundreds of millions of people around the world enjoying the benefits of Tai Chi daily. After warming up your body with Tai Chi’s gentle relaxing movements, you will learn a simple and brief sitting meditation that can be done either seated in a chair or on a cushion. Both Tai Chi and sitting meditation practice integrate your posture, healthy breathing and calmly focused attention.

JAMPA MACKENZIE STEWART, L.Ac., MSOM is our local acupuncturist, Chinese medicine practitioner and teacher at Valley Spirit Wellness Center in Washington Depot. He has taught Tai Chi and meditation for health around the hemisphere for over 45 years, and has written more than 50 nationally published articles on these subjects. He also teaches both Western and Eastern approaches to stress management and relaxation training. He is an engaging and entertaining teacher and will leave you with some valuable nuggets to take home with you. For more on Jampa and Valley Spirit Wellness Center visit www.valleyspiritcoop.com
