Dr. Marguerite Mullée, music director at St. John’s Church in Washington and professor of Chant and sacred music, will be offering a five-week workshop in singing Chant on Tuesday evenings 7 PM – 8:30 PM beginning September 24 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 78 Green Hill Road, Washington CT. The group will present an ecumenical Compline (Night Prayer) including chants from Anglican, Roman, and Orthodox traditions on Tuesday, October 22 at 7:30 PM.
Chant is truly the music of the people and this workshop will explore the wonderful diversity of chant. Topics include vocal technique focusing on breath support and legato singing, reading Gregorian notation, different forms of psalmody, and a historic overview of Chant in the Christian Church. The fee is $95 and includes all materials.
