Shakespeare in the Litchfield Hills, set for August 2020, has been postponed until 2021 – but Emily Mattina wants to talk about it now! Next summer’s interactive community event will culminate in 5 FREE outdoor “Shakespeare in the Park” presentations of Twelfth Night, produced by Shakesperience Productions, Inc. and featuring professional Equity actors. This project will engage the community with stage building, community discussions, actor instructed classes for young people, post-performance talk packs with the company and much more.

It takes more than a year to produce an outdoor Shakespeare production, and Shakesperience is hard at work doing just that. Ms. Mattina will lead a conversation and visual presentation, entitled “Twelfth Night or What You Will.” Join her as she leverages her expertise in the text and times of William Shakespeare to discuss the underlying themes found in Twelfth Night. She’ll discuss identity and empathy, excess versus puritanism, and prospective versus reality as she uses the Bard’s work as a catalyst for creating community conversation. The event offers a sneak peek at the ongoing costume, scenery, and music designs. How passionate is Emily Mattina about this Shakespeare play? She named her daughter Viola after the central character.
