After taking a break for the summer, we are resuming our monthly short story discussion group. The group meets virtually via Zoom every second Tuesday of the month to discuss selected short stories. We discuss each story in depth, focusing on point of view, use of language, emotional impact, ambiguity, plot and characterization.

This month’s stories will be two selections from Jess Walter’s latest collection The Angel of Rome, “Drafting” and “Fran’s Friend has Cancer.” Walter is the author of the novel Beautiful Ruins and The Cold Millions and is a finalist for the National Book Award.
