Capture the mysteries and fluid possibilities of Clouds — earth’s ephemeral guardians — through charcoal and oil paint. Join this Workshop for an instant journey to somewhere unexpected, through transparent layers that express movement, light and form.
It’s for experienced artists, comfortable with oil painting materials and a knowledge of color science principles, based on a simplified palette from the Primaries, plus White. The process from a charcoal composition into paint will give you all you need to create unlimited possibilities with very little.
Day 1: You’ll create a charcoal composition from photo reference or imagination that gives you a tonal pattern to follow for your painting.
Then comes mixing a Blue/Orange palette of warm/cool/neutral tones as a harmonious source of endless choices; and gives you all the notes for a color study as prep for Day 2.
Day 2: The color study is your guide to transfer your composition onto a larger canvas. You’re now ready to bring your idea into a full vibrant painting from an organized palette. This thorough prep process allows you the freedom to express your feelings through lively, interactive brushstrokes that bring your skies to life.
