Pianist Sandy Kleisner and mezzo soprano Janelle Robinson will perform a variety of opera arias and leider as well as musical theatre numbers.
Their selections include opera and art songs Vocalise by Serge Rachmaninoff (1873-1943), Seguidilla from Carmen by Bizet (1838-1875), Must the Winter Come so Soon from Vanessa by Samuel Barber (1910-1981), and three selections by Richard Strauss (1864-1949) Zueignung, Morgen and Die Nacht. The musicians will follow with a variety musical theatre pieces – Love Don’t Turn Away from 110 in the Shade by Harvey Schmidt, Stars and the Moon from Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown, Can’t Help Lovin’ That Man from Show Boat by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein Alto’s Lament by Zina Goldrich. Sandy will conclude with Fantasie Impromptu by Frederic Chopin (1810-1849).
