Are you and your family experiencing a bit of cabin fever? Throughout the winter, the IAIS Education Department is offering private craft workshops on Sunday afternoons. Sign up for a time slot with your family and friends. Express your creativity while learning about the world around you and connecting with a culture that has thousands of years of history in the area. For thousands of years, many Native peoples decorated clothing and items with materials found in nature, such as shell, stones, seeds and porcupine quills. In more recent centuries, multi-colored glass beads have become a favorite alternative. This week’s workshop will focus on beading basics. Join IAIS Educator Susan Scherf for an introduction into beading techniques and a chance to get started on your very own beading project.
Pre-registration is required. Please email [email protected] or call (860) 868-0518 to reserve a time slot. Cost of participation, including materials: Museum admission plus $10 per person. Museum admission is $10 for Adults, $8 for Seniors, $6 for children and Free for Members.
