A fun evening of a 55 minute performed reading, drinks and hors d’oeuvres, and an audience discussion with the director, actors, and playwright, who has flown in from Chicago.
The play is loosely based on Monica L. but is actually a story for every woman (and man) that explores the grey areas of relationships, sex, love, and all the amusing confusion in between. This weekend’s performances will benefit the Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens as well as Via Brooklyn, the non-profit organization that is producing Monica in Scotland for the Fringe in August.
Dianne Nora (Playwright) lives and works in Chicago, Brooklyn, and Dublin, Ireland. She is a 2018-2019 member of Goodman Theatre’s Playwrights Unit, where she has been commissioned to write a new play about Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She assisted her mentor Tracy Letts on the world premieres of his plays Mary Page Marlowe, Linda Vista, and The Minutes, a finalist for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Drama. Her other full-length plays include Come Here to Me, Julie (25F), Western Country, In Rooms Such As These, Everybody’s Legs, Wasps, Ye That Dwell In Dust, and Prodigal. BA: New York University; MPhil: Trinity College Dublin; MFA: Columbia University School of the Arts.
