The three preserves of the Steep Rock Association contain numerous hiking trails that showcase the natural beauty and cascading landscapes of the Washington area. The Hidden Valley Preserve features trails through wooded hillsides, rocky high points, and small meadows while the Macricostas Preserve has trails that highlight the area’s farmland, wooded ridges, and wetlands. Lastly, the Steep Rock Preserve contains hiking trails that follow the banks of the Shepaug River as well as traverse the surrounding hillsides. If you are an experienced hiker or simply just want to explore the scenery of Washington, you will find any of the Preserve’s hiking trails to be relaxing and enjoyable.
