About

The Garden Conservancy saves and shares outstanding American gardens for the education and inspiration of the public. They form partnerships with garden owners, communities, horticulturists, garden designers, and historians in order to help preserve and manage outstanding gardens across the nation. The Garden Conservancy offers the Open Days program which allows both private and public gardens to share their beautiful spaces with curious visitors. Hollister House Garden and several local residents of Washington, CT take part in the Open Days program every season. Please check the Open Days for the complete list of public viewing.

  • A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in New York State, the Garden Conservancy was founded in 1989 by renowned plantsman Frank Cabot.
  • The Garden Conservancy has helped more than 80 outstanding American gardens survive and prosper.
  • Since 1995, some 3,000 private gardens have participated in their signature Open Days program, welcoming more than one million visitors in states across the country.
